Mumbai, July 24 (UNI) Both ferrous and non-ferrous metals were down today on heavy selling pressure by stockists, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said.

In ferrous metals category, except brass cuttings, all metals were on a downward trend.

Copper utensils and brass utensils fell by Rs 200 per quintal each on lower buying support and finished at Rs 35,100 and Rs 25,100 per quintal respectively. Copper heavy and aluminium utensils also declined by Rs 100 per quintal each on heavy offers by stock holders. After easing by Rs 100 each, copper heavy and aluminium utensils finished at Rs 38,000 and Rs 11,500 per quintal.

Brass cuttings rose by Rs 100 on renewed buying support by bulk consumers to end at Rs 26,900 per quintal.

In non-ferrous metalS category, copper wire bars and zinc slab slipped by Rs 200 to close at Rs 41,300 and Rs 10,800 per quintal respectively amid persistent offloading by stock holders in view of bearish advice from London Metal Exchange (LME), traders informed.

Tin slab and nickel cathode also slid by Rs 10 per kg each on lack of fresh demand by industrial users.

However, lead ingot increased by Rs 200 on reduced stock supply by stockists and finished at Rs 11,000, traders added.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 38,000, copper utensils - Rs 35,100, brass utensils - Rs 25,100, brass cuttings - Rs 26,900 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,500.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 41,300, aluminium ingots- Rs 15,000, zinc slab - Rs 10,800, lead ingots - Rs 11,000, tin slab - Rs 1,160 per kg and nickel cathode - Rs 1,100 per kg.
