New Delhi, Jul 24 (UNI) Notwithstanding the condemnation of UPA affidavit on Ram Setu as being a kickback to the DMK for allowing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to continue in power, the BJP today saw a silverlining in yesterday's affidavit ie the government had accepted the existence of Lord Rama and Ram Setu.
The party, however, said the affidavit filed by the Government before the Supreme Court was full of contradictions. Firstly, the DMK questioned the engineering credentials of Lord Rama by asking which engineering college did he graduate from? and even contended that it was a natural formation and now the government was admitting that the bridge was built by a 'superman' just to insult Bhagawan Rama and his believers.
BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the BJP was always of the opinion that Manmohan Singh led government had bartered away the sentiments of millions of Hindus across the globe and the affidavit was a 'kickback' to the DMK by the PM to stay in the saddle, he said referring to DMK's support to the Government in the confidence vote in Lok Sabha on July 22.
This was also one among many deals the UPA had to pay to stay in power, he alleged.
Mr Rudy also referred to a Hindu activist committing suicide in Jammu and Kashmir protesting the thumping of desks by the Prime Minister and his partymen and their applauding the fiery anti-Hindu speech of a Jammu and Kashmir leader in Parliament.
The activist Kuldip Verma ended his life after reading out a patriotic poem and had even stated that he was ending his life as he could not tolerate the attitude of the Prime Minister, he said.
