Chandigarh, Jul 24 (UNI) Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) today nabbed a drug smuggler and seized 4 kg heroin from him here today.
NCB's Regional Director Dr Sazi Mohan told mediapersons here that the accused Liaqat Ali alias Lakhwinder from Bahlana village of the Union Territory has earlier been to jail for his involvement in smuggling poppy husk and was at present out on bail.
Mr Mohan said Liaqat was nabbed near the Bahlana-Airport crossing when he was about to deliver the contraband to a Nigerian citizen, who however, did not turn up to take the delivery.
The accused had allegedly received the heroin yesterday from Amritsar resident Bittu who was working for a Pakistani prisoner in a Punjab jail. The Bureau had been keeping a close watch on the Pakistani prisoner who was in touch with smugglers in Pakistan, he added.
