New Delhi, Jul 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today hailed the victory of the UPA in the Confidence Motion in the Lok Sabha as a great victory for the dynamic leadership of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, visionary Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the people of the country.
Dr Reddy, who was here to observe the confidence vote, in a statement said the motion in the Lok Sabha had defeated the desperate elements seeking to garner political spoils through backdoors defeating the mandate of people of the country.
The Chief Minister also thanked two Telugu Desam MPs who voted in favour of the trust vote. By supporting the UPA they had invested in a bright future of India and to make it a superpower, he said.
The two MPs, who shifted their sides, were Dr M Jagannathan, MP from Nagar Karnool, and Mr Adikeshuvulu from Chittur.
Later talking to newspersons, Dr Reddy denied allegations of TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu that he had offered allurements to the TDP MPs to switch sides. He said the allegations were totally baseless and reminded that nobody had the capacity to offer any allurements to Mr Adikeshuvulu, considered as one of the richest businessman MPs of the Lower House.
''They have been attracted by the policies of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the policies of the Congress President,'' Dr Reddy said.
