Beed, Maharashtra, July 23 (UNI) With the third anniversary of July 26, 2005 deluge nearing, a delegation of citizens today met the district collector, demanding action against the officials responsible for the Chief Minister Relief Fund, collected during the floods, in the district.
During the monsoon session of 2007, Minister of Relief and Rehabilitation Patangrao Kadam had assured that action will be taken against the officials, who were responsible for not transferring the Rs 23.86 lakh Demand Drafts, collected by Scarcity Cell of district collectorate, under the CMs Relief fund to the banks, even after one-and-a-half-year of the calamity, Social worker and general secretary of the Human Rights Campaign Ashok Tangle told UNI after the meeting.
The Demand Drafts were getting outdated and were deposited only on April 21, 2007, after several reminders from Chief Minister Secretariat.
Even as the next monsoon session is going on, no action has been taken against the accused -- the then Resident Deputy Collector (RDC) Mohan Katte and four other clerks, he said.
Meanwhile, district collector B K Naik said the government had ordered an departmental inquiry and asked to file a charge-sheet in this matter.
