Challan against EE in Rs 1 cr disproportionate assets case in J
Srinagar, Jul 23 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation (VO) produced a challan in a local court against the then Executive Engineer (EE) Mechanical Irrigation Division for possessing assets worth Rs one crore seven lakh disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A VO spokesman said here today that a case was registered against the EE under Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) on September 20, 2006, following allegations that the engineer was in possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During investigations, prima-facie it was established that he acquired a huge property in the shape of a palatial house at Rawalpora, a plot of land, besides huge deposits of money in bank accounts and insurance policies in his own name and in name of his family members.
The offences under 5(1)(e) PCA were established against the Executive Engineer and his wife.
The spokesman said after completion of the case and accord of sanction for prosecution, the Challan was produced in the court today. Both the accused and his wife were present in the court.
