BOB to complete core banking system by March next: DGM
Panaji, July 23 (UNI) The public sector Bank of Baroda (BOB) will cover all its 2,873 branch network with core banking system (CBS) by March 2009, according to its deputy general manager (regional) Vijay S Bhatkar here today.
Interacting with mediapersons as part of the bank's centenary celebrations, Mr Bhatkar said the bank had covered as many as 1800 branches, with the CBS facility so far. In Goa, 23 out of 25 branches were covered under the system, which facilitates anywhere banking facility to the customers.
The bank with Rs 2.58 Lakh crore business till March 31 this year, had embarked on efforts to occupy premier position by achieving a business of Rs 3 lakh crores by March 2009, even as it had already achieved Rs 2.73 lakh crore mark by June this year.
It had also had an ambitious plan to become a multi specialist bank soon. As part of this drive, it had opened 15 retain loan factories, which were expected to clear retail loans within six days of receiving the application. So were its 27 SME branches positioned to clear loans to the small and medium enterprises, with a turnover of below of Rs 100 crores in a record time of 2 weeks, Mr Bhatkar said.
In Goa, the BOB had planned to open four new branches by March next at Bicholim, Canacon, Kundai and Taleigao, for which it had submitted the survey report to the RBI for clearance.
