BJP expels 8 MPs for defying party whip during confidence vote
New Delhi, Jul 23 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party today expelled eight MPs for defying the party whip and cross-voting or abstaining during the confidence motion in the Lok Sabha yesterday.
Speaking to mediapersons, BJP president Rajnath Singh announced disciplinary action against the erring MPs.
The MPs are Brajbhushan Sharan Singh (UP) Somabhai Patel and Babubhai Katara (Gujarat) Manjunath Kunnur, H T Sangliana, Manorama Madhwaraj (Karnataka) Chandrabhan Singh (MP) and Haribhau Rathod (Maharashtra).
A meeting of BJP national office bearers at the residence of Leader of the Opposition L K Advani here had considered the issues that had dominated the Lok Sabha yesterday, he added.
