Srinagar, Jul 23 (UNI) About a dozen activists of women's wing of the moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) were today taken into preventive custody for violating prohibitory orders.
Official sources said activists of women wing of the HC led by Yasmeen Raja wearing '' Kafan''( white cloth) took to streets from Rajbagh headquarters in protest against the alleged Human Rights (HR) violation by the security forces in the state.
However, when they were marching towards the main road, police arrested a dozen of them.
A HC press release issued here this afternoon said dozens of women activists were detained by the police.
It said that they were peacefully protesting against the HR violations, including killing of youths in fake encounters, torture in detention centres and custodial disappearances in the state.
