5 imported motor engines seized, 3 arrested

Pudukkottai, Jul 23, (UNI) The Q branch police seized five sophisticated high-speed imported motor engines meant for boats, from a mini-lorry at Kattumavdi, a coastal village in Pudukkottai District of Tamil Nadu early today and arrested three people in this regard.

Police said, acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted the mini-lorry and seized the motors meant to be smuggled to Sri Lanka through Rameswaram coast.The arrested included a Sri Lankan national.

Police said, based on the information given by Kumaragurubaran (28) of Chennai, the lone occupant of the lorry, they arrested Ramesh (37) of R S Mangalam in Ramanthapuram District and Manumohan (28) of Sri Lanka who were waiting at Mimisal coast to receive the consignment.
