UPA proves majority in Lok Sabha by 19 votes
New Delhi, July 22 (UNI) The Manmohan Singh government today proved its majority in the Lok Sabha, winning the confidence motion by 275 votes to 256, but not before dramatic developments in the House that saw BJP producing a bagful of ''bribe'' money and the BSP accusing the UPA of misusing the CBI for getting the support of its members.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee assured the Opposition and the House that he would personally examine the charges levelled by the BJP and the BSP that the government had adopted unfair means to ''buy'' MPs.
The two-day special sitting of the Lok Sabha had been convened for the trust vote following withdrawal of support to the UPA government by four Left parties which have 59 members in the House.
