Speaker calls for voting on trust motion
New Delhi, Jul 22 (UNI) In an unprecedented move, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today called for division of votes on the confidence motion without Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's formal reply to two-day-long debate on it.
The Prime Minister's reply was taken as laid on the table of the House.
As Dr Singh rose to give reply there was uproar in the House with Opposition demanding his resignation. When the din continued for a few minutes, the Prime Minister said he would like to lay his written speech on the table of the House which was permitted by the Speaker.
