A day that shamed Indians abroad
London, July 22 : As the Indian Parliament debated the trust motion, perhaps many did not realise that the event was being watched live across the world, not just by the Indian Diaspora, but also in the newsrooms of leading international media organisations.
The noisy manner of the debate and finally the placing of wads of currency was perhaps, the lowest point that Indian democracy could have reached.
Currency notes were placed as evidence of corruption, but no name of the giver of such ill-gotten money was forthcoming or forwarded.
All one can say at this moment is that the pride which India has hailed its democracy, was sullied by this incident. By Prem Prakash
