PM calls President to inform about victory
New Delhi, Jul 22 (UNI) Soon after winning the vote of confidence in Parliament, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh telephoned President Pratibha Patil informing her about the UPA government's victory.
Rashtrapati Bhawan sources said the President received the call from the Prime Minister late in the evening.
Soon after the Left parties withdrew their support to the UPA government at the Centre, the President had asked the Prime Minister to meet her.
Later, Dr Singh met her on July 9 and informed her that he would seek the vote of confidence on July 22, after which a two-day special session of the Lok Sabha was called.
