Parents of killed inmates of Ashram end fast
Ahmedabad, Jul 22 (UNI) Aggrieved parents of Dipesh and Abhishek Vaghela, who had staged a hunger strike demanding justice for the mysterious death of their children, ended their agitation here today after Chief Minister Narendra Modi assured them that a judicial inquiry will be held into the incident.
Praful Vaghela and Shanti Vaghela ended the 10-day-long fast by consuming lemon water offered by Mr Modi at the latter's residence this evening.
On the occasion, they said ''We are ending out fasts after announcement of judicial inquiry, headed by the retired High Court Justice, by the Modi government. We have confidence that the justice will be delivered to us and our families, and truth will come out.'' Dipesh and Abhishek had gone missing from the gurukul of spiritual preacher Asaram Bapu on July 3 and their bodies were recovered from the Sabarmati river bed on July 5.
Following the mysterious deaths of kids, the Vaghela families and people of the city felt that they (children) had fallen prey to some black magic or tantrik rituals performed by the Ashram authorities.
As a result, large scale protests were held in the city and many parts of the state. A few instances of arson and stone pelting were also reported.
Earlier, the parents had claimed that they would not accept anything less than investigation into the case by none other than CBI.
However, they today claimed that they wanted an impartial judicial inquiry and had never demanded for a CBI inquiry.
