Manmohan survives the acid test, UPA wins
New Delhi, Jul 22: UPA govt emerged victorious in the confidence motion put forward by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Monday, July 21. UPA secured 275 votes against NDA, Left, UNPA 256 votes. 10 MPs abstain from the voting. Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee abstained from the voting. In the second day of the discussion on confidence motion moved by PM, pandemonium prevailed. This LS session was adjourned thrice on Tuesday, July 22.
Lok Sabha was rocked when three BJP MPs proceeded towards the well of the House and showcased the cash worth Rs 3 crores allegedly given by Samajwadi Party. Following this uproar, Speaker was forced tio adjourn and call for an all-party meeting. When the House re-convened, commotion continued and Somnath again adjourned the House.
At 1900 hours Prime Minister Manmohan Singh addressed the LS, and submitted his speech to the Speaker and the trust vote began.
