Lok Sabha adjourns amid charge of abduction of BSP MPs
New Delhi, Jul 22 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was today adjourned for the second time when Gandhi family scion Rahul Gandhi was speaking in favour of the nuclear following pandemonium triggered by BSP members who alleged that four party colleagues had been kidnapped and were in forcible custody.
BSP leader Brajesh Pathak was heard shouting he had given in writing to Speaker Somnath Chatterjee about the condition of his colleagues and sought the Chair's permission to bring it to the notice of the House.
All efforts of the Speaker, House leader Pranab Mukherjee, CPI House leader Gurudas Dasgupta and Congress Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal to pacify Mr Pathak failed and the House plunged into chaos created by vociferous BSP members. This forced the Speaker to adjourn the House for an hour till 1400 hrs.
Mr Pathak and his colleagues, including Akbar Dumpy and Illyas Azami, angrily waved some papers, the contents of which could not be ascertained immediately.
Even as the din continued unabated in the Lok Sabha, Mr Rahul Gandhi, who could not conclude his speech, came to the front row where his mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were seated.
After a brief interaction with them, Mr Gandhi, the Congress general secretary, was persuaded to leave the House. Dr Manmohan Singh immediately followed him out even as uproar continued in the House after the adjournment.
