New Delhi, Jul 22 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die this evening after the 50-month-old Manmohan Singh government won the trust vote by a margin of 19 votes after a two-day debate during the special session of the House.
The Congress-led ruling UPA coalition secured 275 votes against 256 polled by the combined opposition, including the four Left parties whose withdrawal of outside support to the government had necessitated the trial of strength on the floor of the House. Two members abstained from voting.
Earlier, the ruling coalition margin of victory as showed by electronic voting was 21 with the Manmohan Singh government getting 253 and opposition 232, while two abstained.
But during balloting, the victory margin got reduced by two votes to 19.
The suspense over the actual outcome of the division of votes continued for over half an hour before Speaker Somnath Chatterjee announced the result.
