London, July 22 : 70'S Punk Hellraiser singer John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten has been accused of sparking a racist attack on another rocker at the Summercase rock festival in Spain.
The victim of the attack was Bloc Party singer Kele Okereke.
According to Okereke, the incident took place when he saw his idol Lydon at the festival. However within seconds the rocker's bodyguards began bashing him passing racist comments.
"Three guards piled in with fists and started pounding him, shouting things like, 'We don't like your bongo bongo music' and, 'Your problem is your black attitude,' the Sun quoted an eyewitness, as saying.
"Johnny stood to the side and at one point he screamed, 'You f****** kids don't know what you're talking about," the witness added.
Kele Okereke, 26, of Nigerian descent, was not only left with cuts, split lip, bruises but a bruised heart as well.
"I am disappointed someone I held with such high regard turns out to be such a bigot," Kele Okereke said.
Lydon, while not denying the incident, accused Okereke of lying.
"When you are at a festival with bands who are jealous fools, lies and confusion follow. The trouble was brought to us, resulting in those causing it being physically removed," Johnny Rotten said.
Other stars like Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson also got caught up in the commotion before the cops sorted the mess.
Okereke, who has also lodged a complaint to the British police, insisted he had only gone to the 52 year old musician to suggest him to reunite his post Pistols band.
"It's not an issue of the physical assault. It is the fact that race was brought into the matter so readily," Okereke added with disappointment.
