Agartala, Jul 22 (UNI) The Centre has assured to provide funds to the Northeastern states at 90:10 share between the Union and state governments respectively for flood management, official sources said here today.
Besides the NE states, other special category states, including Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand, would be provided with the same funding pattern for management of floods, sources said.
Non-special category states would get 75 per cent central share while 25 per cent of the project cost would be borne by the concerned state for restoration of damaged constructions.
The sources said Rs 649 crore had been earmarked for flood management programmes during the current fiscal for execution of 239 flood control/river management schemes of 12 states and Central assistance of Rs 133.46 crore was released so far.
The proposals for river management, flood control, anti-erosion work, drainage development, flood proofing, flood prone area development programme, restoration of damaged flood management work, which had secured all mandatory clearances, would be considered for funding under this scheme, the sources added.
