Lucknow, Jul 21 (UNI) The city police have launched a massive manhunt to nab Raj Bhardwaj, kingpin of the shutter-cutter gang, who was posing as district convener of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC)'s Right to Information cell.
The inter-state gang was engaged in shutter-cutting of showrooms.
The gang leader Raj Bhardwaj has 45 cases registered against him in Lucknow and 22 cases in Delhi.
Three members of the gang are already in police custody and on the basis of their interrogation, raids are underway to catch Bhardwaj.
Circle Officer (Mahanagar) Rahul Srivastava, who led the operation, said the police teams had been despatched to several places in Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital to apprehend the criminal, who used to lead a lavish lifestyle with high-end vehicles at his disposal.
The gang was busted by the Mahanagar Police a couple of days back with recovery of goods ranging from computers to branded clothes worth crores. Some sophisticated shutter cutting equipments and latest gadgets were also recovered from the plush residence of Bhardwaj who masterminded some of the daring robberies here in the recent past.
