Re-aligned Draft Photo Electoral Rolls published in TN
Chennai, July 21 (UNI) The Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu today informed that the realigned draft (Photo) Electoral Rolls for the new Assembly Constituencies had been published in various districts.
In an official press release here, the CEO said the rolls had been published in Tiruchirapalli, Karur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Madurai, Tuticorin, Nilgiris, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari and Virudhunagar Districts from July 16 to 18.
In the remaining districts, except Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram where it will take some more time, the rolls had been published today.
The publication is part of the process of mid-year Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls arising out of delimitation.
The publication of the draft electoral rolls was preceded by preparation of a Correlation Statement to exhibit how the areas of old Assembly Constituencies correspond with those of new Assembly Constituencies.
Also, the re-organisation of polling stations was taken up arising out of delimitation as well as following the norms of the Election Commission of India on electorate size, distance, vulnerability, making the polling station area co-terminus with the administrative boundaries.
The re-alignment of the electoral rolls was carried out after centralization of the electoral roll database for the entire state in the CEO's office, it added.
