Rambaran Yadav likely to be Nepal's first President
Kathmandu, Jul 21: The second phase of the presidential run off concluded on Monday, July 21 after none of the candidate could bag comfortable majority on the first phase held on July 19.
The election being widely expected to elect Dr Ram Baran Yadav of the Congress as the first President of the country. Dr Yadav backed by CPN-UML and Madhedhi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) appears in a stronger position after other fringe parties extended their support. According to sources Dr Yadav has been supoorted by 313 member of Assembly. A candidate needs to bag at least 298 of the 594 members to win the election with comfortable majority. Dr Yadav has secured 283 Votes on July 19, Saturday's run off against Maoist presidential candidate Ram Raja Prasad Singh who has secured 270 votes.
