Hyderabad, July 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations Commissioner C Parthasarathi today underlined the need for protecting Telugu literature and culture for future generations.
Releasing the brochure of Mutyalaharam-2008 (Special Programmes) of Doordarshan Kendra's 'Saptagiri' Channel, he said Telugu literature was a great treasure with diversity of works which portrayed human values relevant even today.
He said DD was playing a major role in protecting the literature and culture by telecasting various programmes through its channel for the benefit of the people.
Project Director, AP State AIDs Control Society, Mr R V Chandravadan, urged DD to give more importance for classical music.
He said despite competition from TV channels, the DD was telecasting value-based programmes by giving importance for culture, family values and human and social values.
Saptagiri Channel Director P Madhusudan Rao said the channel had undertaken the initiative to produce a series of Indian classics some of which have never been filmed before. This includes Telugu literary works by eminent persons.
Telefilms like Viswambhara written by Dr C Narayana Reddy, Runananda Lahari by Mullapudi Venkata Ramana, Vishun Sarma-English Chaduvu by Jnanpeeth Awardee Viswanatha Satyanarayana and Jeevana Samaram by Ravoori Bharadwaj would be telecast from August 18.
He said the writings of outstanding and famous writers had been moulded by veteran producers and directors of TV Film media.
Dr Reddy urged cable TV operators to give more importance for the channel which was reaching every village.
