Nashik, Jul 21 (UNI) The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists today vent their fury against establishments putting-up English name-plates by smashing a number of boards of various business concerns in the city.
Prominent among the establishments targeted were Fame Multiplex on the Mumbai-Agra Highway, City Ceramics at Canada Corner area, Reebok and Woodland showrooms at Nashik Road.
''Our prime demand is putting up of Marathi name-plates for all establishments. We had requested the people earlier to change the name-plates. Our agitation against the English signboards will continue'', Vasant Gite of MNS said, appealing to the people to cooperate in this endeavour.
Meanwhile, police 'bandobast' has been intensified at many places in the city to avoid any untoward incident.
The situation was under control by this afternoon, police said.
