New Delhi, Jul 21 (UNI) Elated after a successful tour of Portugal, Indian defender Mahesh Gawli feels playing against quality opposition gave the team a much needed confidence boost.
''We played against good oppositions and did well. This gives confidence and inculcates a winning habit in the team which is so essential before a major championship,'' Gawli told Goal.com.
Gawli praised Indian skipper Bhaichung Bhutia for his creditable performance in the Goal4Africa match at Munich recently.
''Indian football was well represented by Bhaichung amongst the world stars. The Indian team is proud of him,'' he gushed.
Gawli, who has been nominated for the Arjuna Award, feels that it is an honour to be considered for the prestigious award.
''I am extremely pleased for being considered for Arjuna Award.
It is an honour and if God wants then surely I shall win,'' he said.
