Congress launches membership drive in AP District

Kakinada, Jul 21 (UNI) The East Godavari District Congress Committee of Andhra Pradesh today launched a membership enrolment drive that would continue till August this year.

While announcing the names of the incharges and convenors at the inauguration of the membership enrolment drive at the DCC office here, Thota Narasimham said mandal level enrolment drive would be held as per schedule from July 28.

West Godavari Zilla Parishad Chairman K Nageswera Rao, who is also the Pradesh Congress Observor for the membership drive, called upon the party workers to take up membership drive with more vigour, spreading among the people the party's message and the government's achievements during the last four and a half years.

Mr Rao said SC, ST, BC and women should get their due representation in the membership enrolment.

Social Welfare Minister Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose and Small Scale Industries Minister Gollapalli Suryrao also stressed the need for enrolling maximum number of people into the party. Of the total 18 MLAs, only ten attended the inaugural function.
