Hyderabad, Jul 21: The youth wing of the main opposition Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh today alleged that the Congress Government had failed to fulfil its poll promises to youth, including filling up of vacancies for Scheduled Castes.
Talking to reporters here, TDP Youth Wing President D Ravichandra recalled that the Congress in its election manifesto had promised to fill up 2.50 lakh government jobs, 70,000 backlog vacancies in the posts reserved for the SCs. But it had failed to keep up the promises after coming to power. On the other hand, the Government posts, were getting exhausted he alleged.
Thanking Party President N Chandrababu Naidu for his announcement to provide an allowance of Rs 1000 to each unemployed youth, he said the youth wing was collecting information on the number of unemployed youth and evolving guidelines for implementing it.
Answering a question, he said the party would not be facing any threat from matinee idol Chiranjeevi's proposed political party.
The TDP would rope in party founder and actor-turned politician N T Rama Rao's family members, including actors N Balakrishna, Kalyanram and Junior NTR, to actively campaign for the party and retain the youth in the party, he said.
