BJP firm on defeating Confidence Vote: Sushma
New Delhi, Jul 21 (UNI) Accusing what it called the desperate UPA government of indulging in a disinformation campaign, the BJP today said its commitment to vote and defeat the UPA-sponsored Confidence Motion in the Lok Sabha tomorrow was undiluted.
''There is no letdown in our position about opposing the confidence vote and we are even making special arrangements to bring in all our unwell MPs to Parliament to enable them exercise their franchise,'' senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj clarified.
Her statement comes in the wake of rumours that the saffron party may not be very keen to defeat the motion in view of the UNPA projecting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati as their prime ministerial candidate in the event of the fall of the UPA government after the confidence vote.
She informed that the party had made special arrangements to bring in its indisposed MPs including cinestar-turned-Bikaner MP Dharmendra to facilitate voting in the Lok Sabha. Two other party MPs -- Harishchandra Chauhan and Manoj Kanoria -- arrived in the city.
The party was also assured of support of its MP Babubhai Katara, who is facing charges of human trafficking.
