2 Let militants planning to attack pilgrims killed in Kashmir
Srinagar Jul 21 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have killed two militants of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) who were planning to attack the pilgrims going for darshan through shortest Baltal route to Amarnath shrine.
Giving details, a police spokesman said today a tip off was received that some militants hiding in village Nagabal Derand in Ganderbal district were planning to attack the yatra convoy on way to Srinagar.
He said immediately the entire area was sealed and cordoned off and the search operation started.
During the operation, militants attacked the search party with automatic weapons. The fire was returned and in the ensuing fierce clash two LeT militants Syed Abid Ahmad alias Aksha, a resident of Punjab in Pakistan and Sageer Shah alias Garian, son of Hassan Shah, also a resident Pakistan were killed.
Spokesman said both the militants were operating in Ganderbal area and were involved in many civilian killings in the area. Two AK rifles, ten magazines, two grenades were 96 rounds of ammunition recovered.
