UPA govt would prove majority: Antony

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 20 (UNI) Expressing the confidence that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre would prove its majority in Parliament, Defence Minister A K Antony today said that the government would survive the confidence motion on Tuesday.

Talking to newspersons here, he said ''the UPA government will won the confidence vote by surviving all pressures and lures.'' Mr Antony alleged that the Left Parties were trying to unseat the UPA by joining hands with the ''evil forces'' and warned that they had to pay heavy prices for their acts.

Rejecting the propaganda that the UPA government was trying to surrender its foreign policy, the Defence Minister said that the Congress would never allow to inflict any scar on the countries independent Foreign Policy.

Stating the propaganda that the nuclear deal was anti-Muslim was ''unfortunate'' , he said in the present juncture the nuclear energy was quite inevitable to the country. However, there was no change on the stand towards Iran, he said and pointed out that if America tried for action against Iran, it would strongly oppose and there was no compromise on it.
