S Sidhu to take over as Goa gov tomorrow
Panaji, July 20 (UNI) Governor-designate of Goa Shivinder Singh Sidhu will be administered oath of office and secrecy by Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Swatanter Kumar at Raj Bhavan here tomorrow.
The ceremony will be held at 1700 hrs.
Dr Sidhu was earlier the governor of Manipur. He would serve Goa for the rest of his term.
He was a IAS bureaucrat of 1952 batch, having worked in different capacities with the Government of India and state governments before being elevated to the gubernatorial position.
He also served as secretary general of International Civil Aviation Organisation, a wing of the UN at Montreal from 1988-91.
He had also held special assignments in the Commonwealth Secretariat for evaluation of Commonwealth Fund for Technical Development in Islands of South pacific Ocean in 1994.
Besides, Dr Sidhu has authored several books on steel industry, tourism and civil aviation.
Goa government wants to capitalise on his expertise in shaping the proposed international airport at Mopa in North Goa through a PPP mode.
