PAC meets GPRN/NSCN on reconciliation bid
Kohima, Jul 20 (UNI) In a bid to bring peace, unity and reconciliation in Nagaland, the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) met the leaders of the GPRN/NSCN, Eastern Naga Peoples Organisation (ENPO), Konyak Union and other organisations at the district headquarters in Mon.
Official sources said here today that the PAC, led by its Chairman T M Lotha, met Ato Kilonser (prime minister) of the GPRN/NSCN Kitovi Zhimomi yesterday and had a marathon discussion with the outfit.
The PAC also met various leaders of the ENPO, Konyak Union and other organisations and discussed the peace efforts, including reconciliation among all sections of the Naga people.
Dr Lotha, after the meeting, briefed mediapersons that both the parties met in a ''cordial and positive atmosphere and arrived at consensus to come together to work towards restoring peace, unity and reconciliation in the state and also strive towards a permanent solution to the Naga political problem.'' The PAC appreciated the leaders of the GPRN/NSCN for understanding the demand of the people on the need of the hour for restoring peace and agreeing to cooperate towards such end.
Reiterating that the Naga people had suffered long enough, Dr Lotha said the PAC had appealed to the GPRN/NSCN leaders to stop killings.
However,
the
GPRN/NSCN
leaders
alleged
that
the
recent
clashes
were
initiated
by
the
NSCN-IM
and
said,
''as
long
as
the
NSCN-IM
continues
the
killings
deliberately,
the
clashes
will
not
stop.''
