Officials detain air passenger for carrying bullets
Chennai, July 20 (UNI)Customs officials detained a New Delhi bound passenger for possessing four bullets of 0.32 mm make at Chennai domestic airport prior to his departure by Indigo airline today.
Official sources said when the Lucknow-based businessman Ram Bahadur Tej(38) baggage was checked at the lounge prior to his departure at 1430 hrs, officials saw a few arms and heard an alarm signal kept inside his bag.
When questioned, the passenger said he is carrying the weapons for his business purposes often from Chennai to New Delhi and vice-versa and ensured that a statement on licences was produced to the officials from his office by fax.
Mr Tej, however, admitted that he carried the bullets due to oversight and regretted for the inconvenience caused to the authorities concerned and assured that the mistake will not be repeated henceforth.
