India to be world's largest talent pool by 2022: C K Prahalad
Mumbai, Jul 20 (UNI) India to be the world's largest pool of trained manpower by the end of 2022 and would emerge as a world leader in industry and commerce, Prof C K Prahalad said.
Prof Prahalad, Paul Ruth McCracken, Ross School of Business, The University of Michigan, in a media interaction organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) this weekend, said, ''I believe India in 2022 will have world's largest pool of trained manpower with 200 mn college graduates, 500 mn trained skilled workforce and universal literacy.'' India would emerge as world leaders in industry and commerce by becoming a home for at least 30 of the Fortune 100 firms, that would account for 10 per cent of world trade, Prof Prahalad opined.
He said that despite global dispersion and unlivable economic environment across the globe, a country like India has been and will remain a powerful motivator for the rest of the world.
Emphasising a destiny for the country integrated with economic strength, technological vitality and moral leadership, Prof Prahalad elaborated his vision of India as becoming the most benchmarked country for its capacity to accept and benefit from its diversity.
For India, the issue is not resources but the balance between aspirations and resources and further less corruption in deployment of resources and good governance could generate high levels of GDP, he added.
