Amit Paul ''rescued'' from bar in Guwahati

Guwahati, Jul 20: Indian Idol finalist Amit Paul was among a group of revellers who were ''rescued'' by the police from a lounge bar here in the early hours today.

Amit and his friends were partying at the bar when a scuffle broke out between two groups, prompting someone to call in the police.

When the police arrived on the scene at about 0200 hours, those involved in the fight escaped, while police took away Amit and five-six other youths in view of their safety. They were allowed to return home in the morning.

Meanwhile, the bar owner stands to have his licence cancelled and arrested for keeping the bar open beyond the permitted hour.
