New Delhi, Jul 20: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Ajit Singh to vote against UPA government in Lok Sabha. Its yet another set back to UPA government before the crucial confidence vote session of Parliament on July 22. The Jat leader's announcement comes after a meeting with UP Chief Minister and BSP supremo Mayawati.
“The meeting with Mayawatiji was positive," Singh told reporters. Asked whether his party would support Mayawati for Prime Ministership, Singh said, "She had emerged as an important leader in recent times and decision would be taken when the right time comes". Remaining non-committal Ajit Singh said to media, “We have decided to vote against the UPA on July 22,". The Congress was trying to woo the Jat leader for support of his three RLD MPs. The union cabinet, led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, had on Thursday, July 17 even decided to rename Lucknow's Amausi airport after former prime minister and Ajit Singh's father, Chaudhary Charan Singh.
Ajit Singh's three MPs have been critical to the UPA's calculations. Losing Ajit Singh's votes will make it touch and go for the government.
