Three police stations in HP to get ISO certificates

Shimla, Jul 19 (UNI) Three police stations of Dhalli, Una and Mandi in Himachal Pradesh will be conferred with ISO certificates and equipped with best infrastructure to provide efficient services to the complainants.

Addressing a state level police welfare meeting here, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said the three police stations would get ISO certificates on August 15, later this year, where international level facilities would be created to deal with crime, law and order and other policing activities.

Besides, he said, the state government has also changed the colour of the state police personnel who would now sport new attractive uniform from Independence Day.

This was apart from its decision to create a separate police district for Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh industrial area to deal with any law and order situation and relieve the district police of additional responsibilities, he added.

Mr Dhumal said the statae would also consider deputing police personnel at hydroelectric project sites to maintain law and order, provided the companies where willing to pay their expenses.

Referring to the recruitment of police personnel, he said 1,523 constables have been recruited and their training would start from later this month at five different training centres.

He said Himachal was also the first state in the country to have its own Police Act and the department would also be computerised in a month, adding it also had separate wings for maintenance of law and order and investigations.

Urging the police department to remain vigilant against anti social elements, the Chief Minister said the problem has increased manifold with the increase in population that was coming to the state from other states.

He said the state government had sanctioned an additional 25 per cent budget to the police department this year to strengthen its infrastructure and facilitate the functioning of the police personnel.

Senior state government officials were also present on the occasion.
