SRM school children display their talents

By Staff

Chennai, Jul 19 (UNI) It was a day to remember for the young students of the SRM Nightingale Matriculation Higher Secondary School, who displayed their wide repertoire of talent at the 40th Annual day sports meet today.

The tiny tots of SRM welcomed the gathering with a spectacular ''Timmy Tommy Dance'' while the primary students performed ''Kolattam'' with perfect rhythm and coordination.

But what kept the audience spell-bound was the martial art performance by third and ninth standard students Harshith Ram and Bhushan, respectively.

The dimunitive Harshith Ram, a third standard student, pulled a Santro car by gripping a rope with his teeth, for a distance of about 25 metres.

Equally impressive was the ''brick-breaking'' stunt by Bhushan who broke a set of ''fire raging'' bricks, with glass pieces on top of it. The students were trained by Sensei Rajkumar.

School Principal Shanthi Sukumar, who coordinated the event, said the a dance performance by the High school students played to the music of Punjabi Bhangras enthralled the audience.

For the record, the Emerald House of the School bagged the top honours with 162 points and Ruby House finished runner-up with 150 points.

Former National Table Tennis Champion V Chandrasekar gave away the prizes to the winners.
