New Pondy Lt Gov to take oath July 23
Puducherry, Jul 19 (UNI) Lieutenant Governor-designate Govind Singh Gurjar is expected to be sworn in on July 23.
According to official sources here, Puducherry Chief Judge Krishna Raja would administer the oath of office to Mr Gurjar at a simple function at the Raj Nivas here.
Seventy-six-year-old Gurjar is a six-time member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly and presently the sitting MLA from Nasirabad Constituency in Ajmeer District.
Mr Gurjar replaces Mr Bhopinder Singh who is the Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands holding additional charge of Puducherry.
Mr Singh assumed office following the resignation of Mr Mukut Mithi on March 12.
Mr Mithi resigned after he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from his home state of Arunachal Pradesh.
