Man gets 7 yrs RI for rape in Maharashtra
Kolhapur, Jul 19: A local court today sentenced a 36-year-old man to seven years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a girl last year.
District Court and Addistional Sessions Judge Rajendra Jadhav found Shivaji Pandurang Bhosale, hailing from Yelavi village in Tasgaon tehsil of the district, guilty of the crime under sections 366 and 376 of Indian Penal Code and awarded the sentence.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000.
Bhosale, who is a father of two daughters, used to rape the girl in a firm at village Desang in Kavathe-Mahankal tehsil of the district. He had allegedly given a false promise of marriage. The incident came to light in August last year when the girl got pregnant, police said.
