Bangalore, Jul 19 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today termed as 'unnecessary and illogical' the centre's decision to divert 50 MW of power meant for the state to Andhra Pradesh and urged the Union Energy Minister Minister Sushil Kumar Shindhe to release 290 MW of power to the state immediately.
In a letter addressed to Mr Shinde, he said he was shocked to learn the centre's decision to divert power to the Andhra Pradesh and the action was totally uncalled for. The centre should release the state's share of power as the power crisis had reached its peak following failure of monsoon rains in the state, he pointed out.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Chattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh for his positive response to start a 2000 mw capacity thermal power unit jointly in Jahangir district. He also thanked Mr Singh and his government officials for earmarking 2000 acres land and sufficient water supply from Mahanadhi river for the purpose.
