New Delhi, Jul 19 (UNI) Janata Dal (Secular) President and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda today held a series of meetings with top political leaders ahead of the crucial confidence motion in the Lok Sabha on July 22.
Mr Gowda called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence for 20 minutes honouring his request, but refused to divulge if his party would support or oppose the trust vote in the Lower House.
''I will consult my party leaders who are coming from various parts of the country and declare the party's stand,'' Mr Gowda told reporters after the meeting.
Not to be left far behind, Satish Mishra, the emissary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, called on Mr Gowda at his residence. Former Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and JD (S) Secretary General Danish Ali were present at the meeting.
Telugu Desam President N Chandrababu Naidu and CPI leaders A B Bardan, D Raja and Sudhakar Rao are also expected to call on Mr Gowda at his residence, party sources said.
