Family of five suspected go missing near canal
Ferozpur, Jul 19: A family of five went missing after leaving behind a suicide note on the banks of the Punjab Feeder canal near Makhu town of the district. Police sources while confirming the incident stated five pairs of shoes/slippers were recovered along with the suicide note from the banks of the canal.
The suicide note written by Jasbir Singh (32) of Bhure Kalan village in adjoining Tarn Taran district stated that he alongwith his wife, Raj Kaur (24) and two sons and a daughter were ending their lives on their own free will and no one should be held responsible for their deaths.
Police personel alongwith divers have searched the canal but so far no dead body had been recovered. The search was still continuing and only after the recovery of the dead bodies would the police be in a position to assert the truth, official sources here stated.
Inquries by the police revealed that Jasbir Singh had recently sold his ancestrol house and his brothers were pressing him for their share in the property. A case is expected to be registered only after recovery of the dead bodies.
