Mysore, Jul 19 (UNI) Eicher Motors, leading manufacturer of commercial vehicles in the country, will establish a Training Centre, the first in South India, at the National Institute of Engineering (NIE) here shortly.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard was signed with Gujarat Government at Eicher's plant in Pithampur, Indore recently.
NIE was represented by its Director S L Ramachandra and Prof G L Shekhar, while Gujarat government was represented by Department of Employment Deputy Director S A Pandey, according to a NIE release here today.
Eicher Motors Chief Executive Officer a Ramasubramanian said that the Training Centre would be established in another two months time at the NIE, a premier technical institution in Karnataka.
One more Training Centre would be established at Kubernadar in Ahmedabad in association with the Gujarat government.
The main objective of this collaboration was to familiarize young students in latest automobile technology and also practically demonstrate to them the most scientific way of repair, maintenance and overhaul of commercial vehicles, and modern manufacturing techniques.
Further the large scale training of mechanics and drivers would also be taken up to deal with safe driving and fuel conservation, we intend to develop these two centres to world class standards, he added.
