Arasu Cable set to start operations in TN Dist
Tiruchirapalli, July 19 (UNI) The Arasu Cable Corporation is all set to commence its operations in this district with the opening an office here.
A majority of cable TV operators in district are expected to switch over to the corporation in the next few days, according to State Transport Minister K N Nehru who spoke at the inaugural function yesterday.
He said the district unit of the Tamizhaga Cable TV Operators Association and the Tamil Nadu Cable TV Operators Welfare Association pledged their support to the corporation.
The corporation was ready to provide its feed to operators in the city as the cable link from the Thanjavur Control Room was through.
However, the process of providing individual links to operators in the entire district could take about a week's time.
About 500 operators had applied for registration with the corporation.
"We do not intend to promote new operators and competition among operators. Only in places where there are no operators or the existing operators are not willing to join the corporation, we will look for new operators," he added.
Seeking to allay the fears of the operators, Mr. Nehru said the government had already taken steps to include all popular pay channels under the Arasu Cable's bouquet. The government would address difficulties, if any, faced by operators.
