Shimla, Jul 19 (UNI) New Himachal Pradesh Governor Prabha Rau today denied reports that her elevation as Governor was linked with internal politics of Maharashta Congress, saying all these conjuctures were ''wrong and misplaced''.
In an informal chat with mediapersons here immediately after taking the oath, she said the conjectures that she had been eased out from Maharashtra to ensure peace in state Congress were wrong and misplaced.
''It is not true. This responsibility had been entrusted to me by the party high command and I will discharge my constitutional obligations with dignity. If someone thinks that I have been eased out from state politics and made governor, I have nothing to say,'' she added.
Ms Rau said she did not think that her Congress background would affect her functioning in any manner inspite of the fact that she had been made Governor of a BJP ruled state.
''It is a constitutional post and I will function accordingly.'' Replying to a question on the hill states joining hands to raise their issues, she said that she did not have any knowledge about that but development of the state would always be her priority.
She said she had been to Shimla before also and had started liking it from the first day.
