25 teaching, non-teaching staff of Mithila University arrested
Darbhanga, Jul 19 (UNI) Altogether 25 teaching and non-teaching staff of two constituent colleges here were arrested today on charges of creating obstructions to L N Mithila University officials.
Police said the arrested staff had locked the main gate of the university to prevent officials from discharging their duties, in protest against their dismissal from the services on the directive of the apex court.
The agitating staff of the two constituent colleges were arrested after an FIR was registered against them on the directive of the Vice Chancellor, Mishri Lal Thakur.
Earlier, on the directive of the Supreme Court, 283 teaching and non teaching staffs of Maharaja Laxmeshwar Singh Memorial college and Jhumak Mahaseth Dharmpriya Lal College were dismissed from service after their appointments were found illegal.
