Jabalpur, July 19(UNI) A 12th class student, who informed the police about the murder of his landlady and her two sons in neighbouring Balaghat town, turned out to be their killer, police said today.
When the victims fell unconscious after eating sweets laced with sedatives, the boy bludgeoned them with a hammer killing the three on July 11, Balaghat Range's Deputy Inspector General of Police G Janardan said today.
Ajay Agarekar and his elder sister, a college student, were staying as tenant in the house of Mrs Nandini Jayram in Kosli locality in Balaghat Kotwali area. Their father is a school teacher at a village in Balaghat district.
According to Mr Janardan, Ajay, who was in the habit of consuming intoxicants, was in dire need of money and planned the murder of Mrs Nandini Jayram(40) and her two sons- Mohit(19) and Ankit(17).
Initially, he said, police drew a blank as it could not gather any evidence about the trio's murder, which was informed to the police by the student himself.
During interrogation by a special team, the student admitted to the crime and said the woman's 'Mangalsutra' and Rs 2000 in cash were stolen from the almirah.
After coming from school on July 11, Ajay purchased sleeping pills from a druggist. He offered 'Rasagullas'laced with powdered pills to the woman and her sons. As they fell unconscious, he used a hammer to kill them.
