UPA Govt will be toppled on July 22: AIADMK

Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, Jul 18 (UNI) The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre will be toppled during the trust vote on July 22, senior AIADMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said today.

Winding up a day's fast organised by the party to condemn the atrocities of the Ramanathapuram Municipal Chairman, near the Ramanathapuram Palace, he said that soon after the UPA Government was toppled, the DMK Government would also be dissolved in Tamil Nadu for its ''misdeeds.'' Stating that the law and order situation had worsened in the State under DMK rule, he said a pathetic situation was prevailing, with the police administration failing in the State. Instead of giving protection to the common people, the police were giving protection only to the DMK men, he charged.

Mr Panneerselvam wondered why the DMK had organised a day-long fast against the killing of fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy, tomorrow. ''They (DMK) are ruling the State, against whom (Minister) M K Stalin is going to observe the fast,'' he questioned.

He challenged the DMK to withdraw its support to the UPA Government on the fishermen issue.
